What Brave Leaders Do to Stand Out and Advance Career & Business?

What Brave Leaders Do to Stand Out and Advance Career & Business?

The short answer is Practice.

Why…?

Let’s deep dive.

Typically, Brave Leaders are okay to be vulnerable. It means these groups of leaders are courageous to be ready in the arena to rumble and embrace the suck. According to Brene Brown in her book – “Dare to Lead”, The Rumble is a discussion, conversation, or meeting defined by a commitment to lean into vulnerability, to stay curious and generous to stick with the messy middle of problem identification and solving, to take a break and circle back when necessary, to be fearless in owning our part, and, to listen with the same passion with which we want to be heard.

But...how do we translate this to standing out career and business?

The top world-class performers have one thing the same in common. Yes, they know how to practice, they know, it needs to be repeated - You need to repeat movements and skills over and over again to make them better and better. If you’re a writer, write. A lot.

If you’re a graphic designer, work on great design. A lot. Decide the realm you want to master, and then focus your time there. At the same time, brave leaders drive-by feedback. It’s Feedback-driven: The Practice can only work if you’re constantly receiving results-based feedback. It doesn’t matter where you start. What matters is that you test, tweak, and keep reworking to become better.

Does it mean we should be focusing on one skill-set for one career? Big NO.

What I’m talking here about becoming an expert at transferable skills that you can mix and match to develop a hybrid career — that is challenging, fulfilling, and in high-demand. For example, if my job as a marketer, I’m always analyzing data using excel.

What if I put aside one hour of the day to stretch my abilities in excel? I might identify basic formulas I need to master and practice them over and over. I may then attempt the more complicated formulas and pivot tables. So, this is about to re-looked at your career or business and identifying areas of improvement, and then breaking these up into sub-skills to practice. This is how to master any skills.

Once, you succussed in identity an option area that you would like to work, then it requires taking baby steps and continuously repeating them until they become your second nature.

But, how?

It’s a good question.

Let’s start to make it as simple as a smart goal, such as: “Create a pivot table analyzing marketing spend and customers acquired, by month and by a marketing campaign, by March, 31st, 2021.”

The next step is.., how do we work effectively here, like how to track the success progress or what a solid system do I have to succeed? You will have thousands of choices, of course, but I’m a believer - if you make a partnership with a Coach, it will be helping a lot.

You will be making collaboration with a coach to provoke your thought and create a creative process to maximize your professional and personal potential. Do you want to discuss it more? Let me know.
